The May-June issue of Army Sustainment published an excellent white paper about the use of RFID to improve in-transit visibility. More than 3 million active RFID tags are in circulation today in the military distribution system, with approximately 3,100 tag-reader devices in place in Kuwait, Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Global demand for RFID tags exceeded $1.9 billion in 2010, a value that is expected to more than triple within the next five years.
